Clients

Clients

A hundred and twenty businesses, and the reason almost none of them left.

Our client base runs from twelve-person agencies to groups with thousands of employees, across seven countries and eighteen industries. What they have in common is not size or sector — it is that they agreed to be measured on a business number, and so did we.

Why We Do Not Publish A Logo Wall

Recognisable logos are the cheapest form of proof.

A logo tells you that money changed hands. It says nothing about whether the work produced anything, and in our industry a great deal of money changes hands for work that produced nothing at all. We would rather show you the retention rate, because a client who renews after seeing the reported numbers is a considerably stronger signal.

Most of our clients also operate in competitive markets where the specifics of what we built for them are commercially sensitive. Several have asked us not to publish figures their competitors would find instructive, and we honour that. During procurement we name engagements and connect you with executives who will speak candidly.

What we can describe openly is the shape of the client base and what the relationships look like over time. The average engagement is now in its fourth year.

They were the only partner who asked for our P&L before our requirements document. Six months later the numbers they promised were sitting in our board pack.

Group Chief Operating Officer Financial services, United States

Every vendor demoed a model. Golden delivered a change in our cost per interaction — and showed us the working.

The measures we watch on ourselves.

We report these internally every quarter, and we would rather publish them than a testimonial.

Questions

What prospective clients ask.

  • 01. Can we speak to one of your clients?
Yes. During procurement we introduce you to executives in a comparable sector and situation, including at least one who can speak to a difficult phase of an engagement rather than only the good parts.
  • 02. Are we too small to be interesting to you?
Nearly a third of our clients have fewer than fifty people. What matters is whether there is a business number worth moving, not the size of the organisation around it.
  • 03. Do you work with competitors in the same market?
We are transparent about it and we ring-fence teams, data and IP. Where a genuine conflict exists we decline the second engagement, and we tell the first client that we did.
  • 04. Why is your retention rate so high?
Because value is reported monthly, so the renewal conversation is a review of numbers rather than a negotiation about perception. It also means the clients who should leave do so early, which we prefer.
